Aurgh. I put the last of the eggs in lockdown, 3 duck eggs, last night. Well, one pipped an hour later. And the poor baby...it is shrinkwrapped, as it hadn't been in there long enough for the increase in humidity to help. It is trying, so my eldest son and I have been helping a bit by picking off shell and rolling the membranes after wetting them a little. We had a bad moment when we saw blood, but it stopped. I had to snip the membrane around its beak area. I hope we get it out soon...he has a swim meet, and I have to work, so we have to leave tomorrow at 530am. I'd like a little sleep! The other two are really quiet. We are keeping the humidity up pretty well even with going in and out to work with the hatching.
The person I got them from says now she messed up the dates
they should have gone to lockdown on Monday, not Thursday. She took them from the nest after the duck had sat a day or two. Oops.
