HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

LISA hope you have a coop going or done as thats really when yu think it was too fast...seems like they always are getitng really big and i am still working on the coop!! 4-5 wekes goes FAST.

Thank You Lord, that is not a problem anymore. We just recently built our coop. We are adding exterior nest boxes today.

I moved my broody hen into the basement yesterday, because it was 109 degrees outside. Ugh. Now she's all alone, so I hope that's okay, but she's in a little plastic dog crate and even in the shade it was too freakin' hot. The basement is cool. Today is day 9.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your chicken cookp! That is just so beautiful! Did you design it yourself? Did you have plans? I would like to get plans for one like this. It is so lovely, and I like how you can go inside and be with the chickens. Gorgeous! How many birds can live in there?

Thank you so much. We planned it ourselves. I just read over alot of threads and looked at the pictures of other coops and decided what would be on my wish list for a coop. So we put it altogether and this is what we got. Right now there are 9 chickens and 8 Guineas sharing the coop. They all get along pretty good. Here is a thread on how we built the coop.

My husbands been in the hospital for a week, so have not checked the eggs. I finally got to candle yesterday at day 14. There were 5 clears out of 31. Much better than my last shipped eggs. I can barely see anything thru the shells though. I wish I could see veining and movement, but all I see are dark and light areas. I have mostly marans and a few americauna eggs. I can't wait for lockdown. I have help coming tomorrow to finish my coop so that I can move my 22 six week old chicks out of the brooder... To make room for my new babies. Start sending those Picts for all of you hatching this weekend. So excited for you!

Sorry to hear about your husband. I hope that he is on the mend. I just finished the run for my 6 week old chicks and they are enjoying it immensly. WHat a great number for shipped eggs. I am hatching Marans also and know what you mean about the dark. I built a candler that let's me see inside but it is very difficult to see the veining.

Going into lockdown Monday is there and specific way to place the eggs for the hatching phase

If they were in cartons you can leave them in there or take them out and lay them on their sides. It really makes no difference. I prefer hatching out of cartons because then the hatching chicks are not bumping into the others and rolling them around.
