HERE WE GO AGAIN Anyone SETTING Aug 30th - Sept 8th join me!!

Just wanted to update: Day 7 just candled my 12 blk. australorps and I see 11 very active little ones -

, the other has a blood ring but not giving up on it yet.

that they all make it!

As for the 20 bantam cochins - waiting for a few - once again I freak out when I see the temp go down to 98 for a few minutes & the humidity down to 20. So cover back on & I'll wait until it goes back up or wait until tomorrow.

At this point I am just very excited about the viable eggs that were shipped, I almost can't believe it.

I really really really want the cochins BAD, not only because I paid way way way more for them but because these are what I want to add to my current 6 and breed, so I hope the outcome is just as good.

Wish I could take pics but once again I freak out too much to take the time.
UPDATE:
Okay, couldn't wait, so here is the verdict on the bantam cochins:

Mottled: looking like 4 of 7

Mille Fleur: 4 of 13

(it appears 5 of the 13 came from the same Roo and none of his look fertile, will be asking the breeder how he has been performing here lately, just out of curiosity)

So, day 7 looks like I'm at 19 of 32 (but as the saying goes, don't count your chickens until they hatch).

I will be happy to get at least those 8 cochins & a few blk Austr. for laying hens.

My eggs got here today.

They are now resting and coming to room temperature. I was thinking of setting then tonight. That will be about 12 hours from me putting them in the cartons, large end up. This is my first use of an incubator.

I ordered 12 BBS Ameraucana eggs and was thrilled with 19. Ignore that empty white egg, it was to run temp tests with the incubator. They were packed really nice and are all perfect.

This is the first time I'm setting 'shipped eggs' and oh my word what a different experience!!!! I'm very, very excited!!! Hatch day can't come soon enought

Wow over 1/2 dozen More!!! Have you candled them to make sure there are no hairline cracks and to see the shape of the air cells? Very important so that you know what you are dealing with before you start. Also once you place them in the incubator DO NOT TURN them for 5 days. You want the air cells to settle as much as possible after their journey. Here is a good site for hatching SHIPPED EGGS

Meeeeeeeeeeeeee toooooooooooo - 35 eggs. The person I bought them from was extremely generous because I ordered 2 dozen and she sent 11 extra. Yay!!!! I am nuts though, so it's not surprising that I would set 35 eggs -

Anyone else using a Little Giant?

I've got a little giant, but I had a lot of trouble keeping the temps steady after lockdown so my hubby bought me a brinsea.

I've got 7 eggs in the brinsea and 1 egg in the little giant right now [because the brinsea only holds 7 eggs] I did like it, I was able to hatch more eggs at once, but the temp problems killed a lot of my babies.
