Congrats baby no. 2 you're a cutie pie.

I live in Michigan and it is getting in the low 30s at night. I dont have a heated coop. The eco glow says not to use it when it is less than 50 degrees. I am worried about this last hatch. I probably timed it too late in the year, but I couldnt help myself. I can only keep them in the house for a week (agreement with the dh)... not sure they will survive the cold weather even with the eco glow.
Oh that's sad...do you have a garage they could be in that's insulated with the eco glow? Maybe a spare bedroom or bathtub? Just thinking out loud...

Hatch update. Out of 30 shipped eggs, 13 hatched. I had 10 that made it to lock down not hatch. One pipped but got another hatched shell stuck over the top of it and I didn't catch it until too late. One other one unzipped half way, but died before it got out sometime during the night. None of the others pipped. It is so hard to see during candling that I am not sure if they were developing or not. I did the float test this morning and I saw zero movement from any of the eggs. I am leaving the eggs in until tomorrow morning and then cleaning out the incubator until spring. Perhaps in the spring I will be able to hatch my own eggs! So, 4 black americaunas and 9 black copper marans. One of each looks a little iffy on whether or not they will make it.... perhaps we will have some easter eggers in our future:)
When will we see pictures of your darlings? I hope you can hatch your own come spring. My cockerel is starting to crow and make advances at the girls. They are close to 5 months now. I'm hoping next summer for some of my own.

My Chicks are hatching and doing well. I will update with photos later. Also have a hen setting. I am hoping to introduce the chicks to then hen after hatch (hers are 2 days behind) any thoughts?

I wonder that also as I have this new hatch and then I have a girl sitting on some mystery eggs from a show and they are due next week. I was hoping I could take them and put them in with the other batch and that hen and not have two hens in the potting shed for the next 4-6 weeks.

Things have gone really well for me - we are all done.

I have 8 healthy chicks from 8 fertile eggs. The other 4 were not fertile and I discarded them at 9 days. These were all shipped.

4 Barred Rocks
3 Silver Laced Wyandottes
1 Golden Laced Wayndotte

Do you call this 100% or 65% success? Either way I am very pleased considering it was my first time ever - using my home made incubator!

That's awesome and congrats on your little group of cuties.
