And one of my boys, my 5 year old, dropped one of my babes in the garage, and it died instantly

Discovered one of the Silkies is lame too. She is resting in a hospital box right now. Poor thing. Mean roo picked on her. He might need to be dinner.

I hope the duck eggs in the bator make it or my 8 year old might not forgive me. He has wanted ducks forever. They are local eggs though. I have great luck with those.

I have a broody bantam buff cochin due to hatch today. She has 7 eggs under her and 2 are pipping. One of them is from my birchen maran.
This will be our first birchen baby from them.

So sorry to hear. I was really hoping to get one or two out of the last of my Silkie eggs but no such luck. Poor chicky at least it did not suffer. Your son must have been devastated.

MMMMM...Chicken soup for sure. Make sure to post some pics of the babies. I haven't seen many ducklings in the hatch a longs so far.

Hey ya'll. just wanted to report that my quail are starting to hatch! Woke up to one this morning and another egg is rocking

only 47 to go!

Oh I want to see pictures of quail babies! How exciting.

Thanks. I have had turkeys before. The hen was alouf but the Toms were like chickens. They liked being with you and they would follow us around all the time. Unfortunately one of our distant neighbors 2 dogs, came down and tore apart our whole flock in front of my kids. The lap dog terrier killed and mamed most of the chickens and their black lab tore open the turkeys but did not kill them. My husband had to put them down because they were so bad. I told the Dog Warden what they looked like, he took me to their house I identified the dogs and the people never even apologized even though I did not sign a complaint. Oh well, that was along time ago. Rather think about new babies!

You are a bigger person than I am as I would of signed a complaint and sought financial restitution for the loss of my flock. Of course none of that takes away the pain of loosing pets that you love and have cared for and your poor kiddos I hate that for them. But, as you said, onward and upward to better things. Good luck with your new babies.
