Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Celtic, congrats!!!

Marty, time has flown, hasn't it? Well, of the cayugas, one had twins and the other was twisted up completely. The rest had not lost enough moisture and were filled with fluid. I am keeping a very close eye on the one that should hatch out just ok... and hoping that the one hanging on by a thread shows me a flicker of improvement.

While it would be cool to hatch a buff, it won't matter if it is grey, so long as it is healthy... and I will just be ecstatic if it hatches unassisted.

I hear ya! I settle for pink geese, (or lavander or blue, LOL) if they would just take care of business. Oh, Sqeeky is starting to lift his head!!!!

Yay for Squeeky!!

Down to the one cayuga survivor... he is getting more active by the hour. He is pushing out and trying to turn and the breathing has a nice steady strong rhythm. I may try to take a little shell off by eyes, so I can see his head better.

Post a pic, Iain. I remember when Lucky was hatching. It so nice to see them well and moving along. I'm way more relaxed than when I had to help Lucky. Sqeeky (This name chosen by my kindergardener, Not exactly squeeky - more like ski -key, after the noise she mimics him making) is doing well, and I still believe that hands off is best, but I wasn't gonna let him die like the 10 babies I lost from shrink wrap the day before. I'd rather them die with me trying to save them, then discover they all died and I could have assisted.

I feel strongly that I need to order a special candling light, and a clip on adjustable magnifying glass to assist my assessing the situration. Pete talks about the area where the yolk is candling empty when they have absorbed the egg yolk I'd like to be able to see that (and into my dark quail and pheasant eggs), and do a better job of timing my assits from other visable cues. Oh, and I want a tiny pin light (super skinny end) to be able to make the tiny hole with the drill bit, and then put in the light and see what I can see that way, w/o the mega whole unless truly required at that time.

Ya'll have been busy! I have 3 Cayuga ducklings that I hatched out from Heavenly Springs Farm, I had 100% fertility but I only had 4 hatch and one was a runt and died after 3 days. I thought it was a good hatch because it was out of 7 eggs.

My geese eggs got shipped out today, Sooo excited!)

Steven, that's Heather, right? If so, I hatched my first set of ducklings ever from her eggs. I set 12, 11 made it to lockdown, and 8 hatched. The 3 we kept are now 10 weeks old and I love them!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your babies Iain and Marty!

Iain, did you email Carole? I can't find her number now of course, but if you emailed her then I guess she will be contacting me?

Has anyone set their erijn eggs yet? I don't wan to set mine until I know how to with the detached air cells.

Marty, for some reason my camera phone does not take good pics in the bator room. And thinking very optimistically here... I sent hubby to Home Depot to get a new heat lamp fixture and bulb for new cayuga baby, in hopes he hatches out ok by tomorrow morning. When he gets back, I'll get him to take a pic with his good camera.

Goosed, I set mine at 11:30 am this morning. Wait here... I'll take a pic of the bator for you.
