I'm with ya on the vent sexing. As soon as they start having a fit, I'm done. He just laid back and was like "ok, this is comfy". When they are relaxed, it seems possible. LOL.
I don't like to assist a hatch. I definatley will try to stay hands off, unless it seems more desperate. It's hard to always know, and there is no substitution for experience, but getting that experience can be a roller coaster. I've definatley learned a lot, but mosty I've learned that nature does it better. I'm happy for you that your comfy now. I remember feeling bad that the one baby died in its shell even though his beak was out, and I felt like I'd waited too long to open the shell a bit further. The others couldn'be used another half day. I didn't take them out, but they werent wrapped in place to keep them in either.
