Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Sorry to drop off on you Marty.... I lost power and cell service for 2.5 hours in the middle of a winter storm rolling in. Not sure what babies/eggs I am going to be able to save since the bators dropped to 80 before I could get a fire going to raise the temps back up to low 90s. They are almost back to normal now.

Erin toulouse was very active as it was getting ready to zip when lost power. It slowed considerably, but seems to be gaining a little energy back now that the temps are rising again in bator. However, not sure if I did any shrink wrap damage by having the fire blowing on it for 1.5 hours.... waiting to check on the 3 buffs working on internal pipping after temps stable and I move it back to bator room. Really feeling bummed about the new eggs as I had just candled them this afternoon and most were looking like they were developing.

I guarantee the one random duck egg is a goner, as it was not looking good after the extended cool down when setting all the new goose eggs.

I bet they will be ok! remember when my bator got unplugged for like 3 hours and the temps dropped to the 70's? Everyone made it just fine.Hopefully you don't lose any babies!

Oh Iain, how aweful for you!

What possible consolation can I offer for such a heartwrenching personal tragedy?

I am relieved to hear that your babies so near hatching are ok. I hope many otheres make it. Cool is safer than hot, but it didn't help my muscovies either.

I just realized have a bunch of babies coming in the next couple days! 3/17 egg has internally pipped and in lockdown. 3/19 has shadows and should internally pip tomorrow by the looks of it. My 7 chicken eggs, which are doms, jersey, and reds, are now at 18 days, so they will be starting in the next couple days too.

I checked the blk marans and so far I think all are developing!! It's so hard to see with those dark shells. I will

if all 12 are good!

I have some Dark Copper Marans in too. (And a few of several things) I ended up with a few extra goose eggs to sit, so I'll be getting ready to hand turn them and the Jumbo Pekings I have coming (more Luckys!) via shipment monday. I was gonna use that new goose egg rack(s) I got last month, but no room now. I'll have 16 goose eggs and 19 Jumbo Peks in one bator. The other is packed with chicken eggs and other duck eggs.

Let me regrain with "what was I thinking"? Didn't expect so many guests, but all are welcome.

Whoooooly moooly! lol. You got a full house! What kind of goose eggs do you have?

Here is Erin toulouse... not sure if he can zip on his own... he was REALLY happy for me to open it up. The inner membrane has no veins left (what teeny piece of blood on right side is "as is" , ie not wiped in any way. The membrane is rubbery in texture. The baby is slightly shrinkwrapped, but not hard too hard to get qtip under inner membrane.
