Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Hiya QJ and Julie! Thanks for joining me here. Waiting for pics and next report from Chik.

Two live babies for sure!! But they are still very bloody so I left it alone and covered them with a wet paper towel. Is that right? I kept a few more that looked promising, I still have yet to poke a hole in them yet. I'm iffy about doing that because some of the others blew up! Eekk, its stinky!

You should post a pic, they shouldn't be bloody.

Glad to see you too, Marty. All we need is Celtic and the whole gang would be here.

Hi everyone! I finally get to check this thread out. I have one lonely goose egg on day 3. It was given to me by my mom's friend who found it by the water by her pond. She has toulouse, africans, and canada geese so could be any or a mix of the above. Didn't think it would grow, but I see a dark dot in there and it's been getting bigger, so now I'm hopeful.

Hey Julie, that is very cool you are cooking a mystery goose egg! It will be fun to get reports as it grows.

Goosed... sit tight for now. It is only day 28 for your guys. I think your eggs are fine at the moment. Do not panic.

If it has shrink wrapped then will the high humidity its sitting in help to loosen it back up so it can internally pip?

Ugh, I have the added stress of the ducklings. Well one of them really. It has a birth defect and it hobbles on the side of its right leg. I don't know what to do with this poor thing. The geese chase them when I let them out of the pen. It's no big deal for the others because they can get away. But this poor guy cant, and they got a hold of him this morning and bloodied him a bit. It was sheer chaos in the goose village this morning. My daughter was helping me and one gander went after her, and the goose and other gander went after the ducklings. I had to make a split decision between rescuing my daughter or the poor duckling, and no mother could ignore the screams of her child. When I got to the ducking it hobbled to me as fast as it could and laid down on my foot. That just broke my heart. I don't know what to do...

No, it will not loosen up without directly applying warm water. Then, the higher humidity will keep it more pliable.

Sorry about your poor duckling!! How old is he? Can you keep him separated with a calm buddy?? Have you tried polyvisol and niacin supplements?? What are you feeding him???
