Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

All sebbies are happy, and peeping when the further along toulouse talks to them. They are all beak out, breathing, and peeping when the light hits whats left of their damp membrane. I do not forsee any trouble, since there was very very little blood at all escaping (from my work), and I did not pull out heads or adjust anyone. I only barley opened membranes. I will get a whole hospital bator pic for you.

Here is one

Here is another, maybe the weakest. Seems to have some yolk close to his face, but its unter membrane. I didn't opoen all the membrane, just what was neccessary for beak exit alone. I think it will do better for continue confine in a breathing environment.

Marty, they look pretty good, watch the small openings that they don't restrict breathing as they dry out. Be ready to moisten the membrane often now that they are so exposed to the air.

The yellow is the tint to the inner membrane, the yolk is located in the tip of the egg at the goslings abdomen. The yolks are a solid mass incased in a membrane.

I've got humidity at 85%, and I dampen them often. The longest they'll go is overnight (but only 7 hours, I don't sleep 8), and the 5 hours I work. I'll dampen at 6 am, and 745 am, and then 1 and about every two hours until bedtime.

I know the yolk is usually back further, but I was a little worried to see it so close appearing.

I like the yolk gone, or almost gone. Glad to know he's not in mortall danger.
Thanks, I feel better if you think I'm good. They are looking and seeming unstsressed and happy as possible.

Marty!! Do not leave like that again. Celtic and I are studying pics... want to see pic of toulouse.

The yellow crap is not yolk... I would work a wet qtip on the membrane around the beak, to free the nares better. Try to gently use qtip to pull it away to make a slightly bigger hole.

Also, the one sebbie that has no bottom to his end of shell... can you wrap it the way I just wrapped my wrong way baby to keep yolk inside of shell?? Do you have medical sponge and vet wrap??

I don't think anything is going to escape his clear (now) membrane. I'm going to leave it intact until a little more blood leaves the veins. I think doing anything to cause bleeding is going to be stressfull for them and me.

My plan is to dampen often. As blood recedes, I will work on them more. I'm just gonna be sure nothing interferes with breathing right now. I don't want to mess with them more and mess up a good balanced situation.

You want a pic of Erins Toulouse? His yolk is about gone, he's talking a lot more, and starting to pull on his shell a bit as he's wiggling more now. No more pics tonight, I've had an extremely long day, and I'm dying to relax for a bit, if the babies let me. He's in good shape. I'll get his pic tomarrow. I think the other babies in the medical bater need a little peace and downtime, and so do I!!!

Happy to still chat, though.

Mo I have had two backwards goslings this year. Both were from my Sebastopols not shipped eggs. It just happens. I chocked it up to both eggs were from a first year goose and the eggs were smaller in size.

Ok I will take your word as I have never had any backwards...you may be correct on the first year eggs as the ones I use to hatch were out of a flock that had been laying for 2 or 3 years.

so I have a question.. I know I ALWAYS have a question

. If Goose eggs have a detached aircell and you have to leave them standing up.... how do you turn them? rock side to side like a chicken???????
