Yay for Squeeky doing well!!! His sibling should be out by early afternoon, which will be great timing, because I have a dewlap looking to internally pip in the next 12-24 hours.... and the other 2 dewlaps are not far behind the frontrunner!

That is completely perfectly wonderful news, Iain! I hope they all get here in a hands off hatching. I'm determined to give mine more time next time, and not be swayed by my own concern or the concerns of others.

Sure looking forward to squeekys sibling. I tried to vent sex him, and since he didn't mind under a bright light I'm pretty sure squeeky is a boy. Looked like the baby duck in the hatchery sexing video.

Now that that's over..gheesh....how are ya'll's babies doing? My 3/17 egg has even more shadows. I'm going to put it in lock down this afternoon probably. Today makes day 29.

Oh, I set the 5 dewlap eggs last night. I was sorely tempted to wash the two eggs with some dirt on them ( a little everywhere) but decided i'd just let it be. It wasn't as bad as the one from Amy that went rotten halfway through. I also have 9 of 11 Kahki Eggs with giant spiders going on in them on day 5. They were shipped from another laying flock in Arkansas, and I've sent them some eggs. (gotta keep bloodlines fresh) Hopefully will get at least a few males from them.

Marty, while I hope all babies can hatch on their own, I have no problems whatsoever jumping in to assist is anything looks off. The key is knowing what to look for in terms of what is "off" to know when to assist... and when you do assist, to take it slower. It literally took me 60 hours to hatch out Molasses.

I still have not been able to get the nerve to try vent sexing. It scares me.
