New birds, molting birds, injured/sick birds will get a tablespoon or two over feed daily. We use it with the goats as well. Always had it available for my horses, so made sense to use it now too.
x2Oh Iain, thats awful.Psue is right, its been a rough year. Most of us have had bad hatches and losses to healthy stock. Its so frustraiting. Iain, Don't you have more buff in the incubator? I thought there were severall eggs. Of course, if you get more eggs, and hatch more babies out, you'll have your choice of the best from several for you breeding program, and you can always sell the others. (Use the money to get more eggs next year!)

Thanks!!I will do some measurements of our feed mix and post. I use scoops so I measure by them, but can do more accurate measuring pretty easily.

Marty, I use water to help lay the down flat when vent sexing. It makes a huge difference.

I have 6 chickens hatched out, just one more to go for this batch. I had 100% on this batch! Then my 12 Marans next! I'm debating on whether or not to set the 5 eggs I have from Lucinda...
My neighbor wants me tho hatch him about 30 chickens for him, from his hens of course. So, doesn't look like I'll be done any time soon!

My goose eggs are coming alone. On Carole Buff Dewlaps (group 1) I have got 3 of 5 eggs making spiders. So far, still onely 1 of Erins, but its not day 10 yet. I'm gonna peek in group 2 of Carols Buffs (and 2 gray) dewlaps. They are at day 5 today, so maybe I can see something.
I've got BCMs in the bator, but I can't candle them.I've got 10 of 11 Khaki eggs dancing away, My Blue Quail Belgiun D'Anvers are fertile myrtles, looks like all 6 are making for them. Woo hoo.
