Here we go again - I'm hatching more goslings!!

Marty, sorry to hear about your pekin eggs, but glad to hear you have so many dewlaps going strong this close to lockdown! I have 6 greys scheduled to hatch next Thursday. Air cells are starting to dip and my one with the really weird air cell looks to be getting better as the baby is turning.

Well, I think I have a plan for my flock, but wonder exactly how risky it is to not lock ducks up at night? Will my ducks herd back to garage at night like my goslings if they do need to be locked up?

We got kiddie pools yesterday for our birds. I put one in the goslings side yard and only the african could figure out how to get into it. I thought about putting a ramp on it, but assume the toulouse will eventually figure it out, considering they are much bigger than the african.

Vicki, precious babies!!!!!!

Congrats Animal & Vicki!!! I am very excited for both of you!!! Pics, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vicki, I talked to Renee' and she said she could send you 3-4 cayuga eggs next week as she has the one duck laying. If you don't want thenm, she said she will put the eggs into her own bator. Just an fyi.
Thank you!! I will get in touch with her right now!!

Vicki, here is a pic of my sweetie girl Molasses, hatched from Renee's stock with her best friend, Chicory, my toulouse hatched from Erin's stock. She is 3.5 weeks old and loves to crawl into my lap and snuggle. She is so mellow that sometimes I wonder if she's got a stash of valium hidden in her pen.

Vicki, great baby pictures. I would leave the last since you can hear it. Sounds like it is just third in line to hatch.

Iain we herd all of birds from chickens to ducks and geese back to where they belong each night. We use white 1/4" PVC as guide poles. After about 3-4 days they got it down pat. Personally I would never leave ducks or geese out all night. You will quickly learn about local predators if you do.

We currently have a bobcat testing every house if given half a chance. Our female Pyreneese has had to be in the garage at night recently (in heat) and so just the male is patroling. That cat is testing his patients of staying on our property.
