I'm a lurker too. I read all the posts and don't really have much to share yet, but I learn a lot. I have always wanted chickens my whole life. I finally figured what am I waiting for? I now have a small flock and want to get more. I have always been an animal person since I was a kid but I never would have imagined how wonderful chickens are. I enjoy this site very much and chickens are just the greatest! You're right I should particpate more. Just got to get my confidence up.

I think I lurked for a couple of weeks before I registered. I was trying to learn everything chicken wise before I jumped in, and I'm REALLY SHY. I just wanted to be sure of what I was doing with live creatures before I attempted this chicken thing. And I kept wondering, of all things, why am I so smitten with chickens? I never grew up on a farm or anything, I find it very interesting that this chicken phenom is going on like it is.

But this place makes you feel very welcome and friendly, people giving their tidbits of advice and experiences which they share with you, some empathy when you have a loss, joy when you have your first egg, or first pip. It's all good.
