Hey all you lurkers that are now members, what finally made you want to signup? The more we know why people converted from lurkers to participating members, the more we can do to convince the rest of you to join in the fun!!!

I didn't exactily lurk. I signed up as soon as I found the site. I just have been reading without posting because I'm taking it all in. We are going to start building our coop and raising our flock in the spring. Usually if I think of a question I can peek under that heading and find that someone just asked it 1-2 days before I thought of it.

I am looking forward to getting started and the wait is killing me. Being able to come here and read and learn makes it easier. I can't wait until I have enough info to actually be able to start jumping in and answering questions. Until then, thank you everyone who has answered my questions before I even asked them!

It was absolutely the start of this thread. I figured I would explain that I was lurking to learn and raise chickens "virtually" because I couldn't have any right now and didn't know if I would ever be able to start a small backyard flock. But y'all were very welcoming and made me feel at home, so I felt safe in posting.

I waited cause I wanted to make sure my chickies survived. I just went ahead and ordered them from Ideal and then told my DH we had to change my little green house to a brooder house, cause they were coming.
After a week with chicks in the bathroom, he got to work on the change over.

When the Brooder House was finished he started on his shed. They were getting bigger and I said well, we have to make them a hen house. Then IKE came through.

We cleaned up and make the girls their very own hen house. All 24 chicks are growing well, no losses. I now have a hen house and a brooder house and he has finally finished his new shed.

My 7 beautiful little Buttercups are 15 weeks old tomorrow so they have the brooder house to themselves, as they will be at point of lay soon, (wishful thinking??, this time of year), and I decided to put them on Layer feed. The others will stay on grower feed in the hen house until they are 18 weeks, then they can all get back together. I'll then hve room to GET MORE CHICKS. They really have kept us very busy.

So, I saw this post and decided, enough side lining. Besides. It took me a longggg while to decide on a user name and I didn't want to later go past Chillin with my Peeps, (then again, I may never get there).

I love Chillin with my Chicks, especially my little Buttercups, sooooooooo. So, I finally sat down and did it. But an Avitar will have to wait. I can have only one??? Several don't rotate automatically?? Oh, Decisions, Decisions, how ever will I decide? This has taken me about 5 months, how much longer to decide which picture for an Avitar????

This is a book, I really need to go Buttercup Chillin.
