Will do, Yogi! I can't wait, it sounds wonderful!

Yep, I can actually imagine you wasting away on that type of fare...thank goodness you found the pork chops, greens and cornbread in time!

(I like the sound of those butter beans and smoked ribs, too!)

Backyard Buddies, I hear of someone having them every now and then, but have only personally seen them anywhere once. Dh had an account with Dr. Munchies (restaurant.) in Beverly Hills, long ago, and he ordered them there. The thing was, they were bad! As in, bad meat. Imagine!

I love leftovers; good for you!

Amystours, does dd eat them? Are they skinned alive? We have them down at the year round creek. They make a huge splash when they jump!

Oh yes, I like Irish setters very much, Redfeathers. When I was growing up, my cousin had a massive Irish setter, and he was a terrific dog!

We had a big late lunch at Winchesters.I had ostrich burger, DGD had a buffalo burger and DH had a grilled crab sandwich. We went shopping for a mini-80 dirt bike for DGD and by the time we got home we were too worn out to bbq. So we had boxed mac n cheese and leftover bbq chicken.
Tri-tip tonite!!

In Ventura there is/was?? a place that had frogs legs , I hadn't eaten them there though. I have heard of a few other places in Ventura and Bakersfield(of all places) that have them. I haven't had them since I was about 10, would love to have them again.

DH says thirty goats is too many.

C'mon over, Darlene!!! Can't promise that it will always be that appetizing, though!!!

Tonight we did some leg quarters on the grill with the leftover potato salad and beans from last night. I came across some jalapeno/cheddar bread in Wal-Mart today, so I scooped that up, as well. Love the stuff, have no CLUE how to make it!!!

Tonight we had a good old fashioned New England boiled dinner...smoked picnic shoulder....simmered all day with onion, (add some chicken broth for extra flavor)..an hour or so before you want to eat....add your potatos and carrots and cabbage...cook till the veggies are tender....and johnny cake for our bread...yum...yum...i had my 95 year old grandma over for supper....learned how to cook it from her..

Roger, Let me give you a recipe for Pork Chops that are awesome...Take your chops and wash them off and then salt and pepper them. Get some Graham Craker Crumbs and Press the chops in this on each side till they are well coated. Bake on 400 uncovered on a large Cookie sheet type pan till they are crispy on either side. Takes about 30 min. They are very very good. Goes well with cornbread and greens

Ooohhhh - everything sounds so good. Was gone to San Francisco all weekend for my MILs 90th birthday party - 85 guests (we sent out 127 invites)! Can you imagine having that many friends at 90! She is just incredible. Anyway, I did no cooking this weekend - nice break for a change. I'm going to have to try BamaChicks graham cracker pork chops! And Yogi - glad you escaped (wish I had you here in the kitchen

) and where's that grilled corn recipe? I think tonight we'll have a blu cheese steak salad and some garlic bread. Have to work today and try to get one of our kitties into the vet, so it's going to be a somewhat crazy day. Everyone have a good one!

Okay, here we go with the:

Grilled Corn Recipe !

Ingredients:
Fresh Corn
Mayonnaise
Chili Powder
Parmesan Cheese

Instructions:
Peel the shucks back far enough to remove the silks and wash.
Apply a generous coating of mayonnaise ( according to taste)
Sprinke chile powder according to personal taste
Coat with Parmesan cheese
Cover with shucks and grill to desired doneness.

Note: This was given to me by a friend lst winter that says it is to die for. I have not yet had the opportunity to try it as yet because my corn has not yet made.
As is the case, this is a matter of personal taste and should be varied to accommodate it.
Please tell me how it is after you have tried it a few times.

Tonight I'm going to BBQ some mixed seafood (shrimp, scallops, squid) along with grilling some leeks and some greens on the BBQ as well. I saw this idea recently on a Jaime Oliver program. I'm changing the recipe some because I don't have all of the ingredients or I think the kids won't like them as well. Here's the link to the recipe on his website:
http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/fish/roasted-concertina-squid-with-leeks

Does anyone else here watch Jaime Oliver on the food network? I love the gardening/cooking concept of the show.

SUPER SALMON
(I try so hard to do the complicated stuff. This is a super easy recipe that my family *prefers* to labor intensive stuff.)
One pound of salmon filet in a casserole dish. Top with 1/4 cup of Paul Newman sesame-ginger dressing. Sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 400` for 20 minutes or cook on the grill in foil. Serve with veggie rice pilaf or a salad & french bread.
