Hey Grandpa, What's For Supper?

Hey everyone - Guess what happened at my house last night?

When I got home my DH and DD informed me I was not allowed to do any work. They told me to go visit a neighbor, read a book or whatever. So I walked to a neighbors house who I have not had time to visit in ages.

When I arrived back home about an hour later, DH had dinner ready. Stewed fresh squash with onions, fried fresh zucks, purple hull peas, ham and cornbread. DD had all the chickens and rabbits fed and watered for the night and she even had clothes washing and the living room cleaned.

I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

No its not my birthday or annivarsary or anything. Ummmmm wonder what they are up to?

Before I go and post this elsewhere, I wanted to show you guys one of my 4 reasons for needing faster meals the last couple of days!

I don't know what we're having tonight yet. The new goat pen's built, but we still have some major garden and coop work to do. The new chicks arrive on Monday.

Maybe we can have hamburgers....I have everything I need but the rolls, which I can bake in the morning.

Tutter- What a CUTIE!!! I can't wait until we can get a goat or two, or three.....!! It's nice to see that someone else bakes their buns for burgers. We don't buy any baked goods anymore, I make everything from scratch. Today is flour tortillas.

Tonight is leftover italian casserole and cheesy garlic bread.

I made a new bbq sauce last night for the chicken, I loved it! It was nice and thick and stayed where I put it, it didn't drip or catch fire.

Zippy BBQ sauce

1C. ketchup
1/2C. water
4T.dk. brown sugar
4T. grated onion(I used dehyderated)
4T. worcestershire sauce
4T.cider or red wine vinegar
1t. salt
1/2t. chili powder
1/4t. garlic powder
1/4t. pepper
dash of tabasco

Mix all in saucepan. Simmer 15 min. Makes 2C.

I increase and decrease amounts as desired.

I'm the same, I just don't buy baked goods anymore.

Ooooo, I love making barbeque sauce. I look like a mad scientist once I start pouring a little of this and that! lol!

I'll bake you some bread Purr, no cornbread, but white, sourdough, french or sweetpotato!! Tutter that little goat is precious!!!!!

Christi..is Yogi at your house??!!! Dreamy, you got him??? Liz, Amy, Tutter, cknmom...are any of ya'll holding him hostage to cook supper at your houses??!!! If so, please let him go...I MISS him!!!! Yogi..hope ll is well with you and yours..we love you, hurry back!!!

I don't have him Darlene...but if I did I'd keep him.

I was lazy, just a box of mac and cheese that I shared with the dogs and the chickens got some too. Everyone else left me home alone on a Friday night.

thanks scrambled that all sounds delicious, i am going to try baking again this winter i do a great job at quick breads. love cranberry and we my dad works part time for ocean spray in the fall so the berriies are free. They all get a box when the picking's done.

But i'm really excited about canning this fall.Anyone have any good recipes?

How cool about the cranberries!!! You can dry some, bake with some, make wine with some...wow!! Cool!!! And the bread making is easy, no worries there.

Scrambled - I don't have him either. But from the size of that garden he has, plus his honey do list,
not to mention that incubator he is building and I think also hatching eggs.... well you get the picture.

Shoot, If I had him I would not have gone to bed without supper one night.

Last night was a quick throw together spaghetti with garlic bread.

I'm here and all is well except just to dang hot. Thanks to all of you for your kind words. We are starting to get our lives back in order now.
Will be here more often to keep things straight in the kitchen . lol
