I finally figured out what to make for dinner. I had some leftover pie crust from my rhubarb pie making effort of the other day. I wanted to make an English Steak and Onion pie, but only had hamburger. So, I kind of combined the idea of a Scottish mince pie and an English steak and onion pie, plus threw in some peas and carrots. Should be interesting!

I'll serve it with a salad.

Ree has some great recipes on her site, always with TONS of clear pictures. I can NOT imagine how she and her family stay in shape, eating like that (most of her recipes seem to start with a stick of butter)...must be all that work on the cattle ranch!

Hi ya'll,
so tired. but wanted to say, looked like everyone had a good week, and great Fathers day.
We did. I made a good meal (one of my family's favorite)
followed by my husbands favorite...coconut pie.
Made homemade soup for supper tonight.
Just finished canning 50 lbs of tomatoes.
Still have 25 lbs I'm putting up into salsa. That will be in the morning. Have company coming...really have to focus on the menu...it' s our evangelist.
Well, Happy Cooking!

WOW Gwen!!! Where in the world did you even GET 50 lbs of tomatoes this time of year???! Bless your heart..get some of those church women to help you with things!!!

We had Kyoto Express teriyaki chicken & shrimp...yummy everytime!!!

Boy, remind me not to miss a few days again! Four pages to catch up on!!!

Tonight will be steak, baked potatoes with all the fixins, and some sweet corn on the cob right out of the garden!!

We've been bbqing quite a bit, friend of ours managed to leave his deep freeze open all night one night, so he brought over tons of stuff that needed to be cooked, ASAP.

Saturday we went to his house, he cooked up 130 pounds of HUGE crawfish!!! They were absolutely wonderful! The only downside was that there were NONE left to make etoufee with!!!

Gosh! I love crawfish etoufe! I have to special order crawfish up here, so usually just substitute shrimp. Either way, it's a special treat in my house along with some crusty french bread.

Tonight I stole Redfeathers' idea of split pea soup, ham and cornbread. Hit the spot since we never made it out of the '50's, overcast and drizzly. Yuck!

Yikes, this thread is HUGE.

Last night, hubby was supposed to go grocery shopping with me. Only, he stayed out late with his beer buddy, so we didn't go. Won't get another chance to go shopping until Friday, so tonight's dinner consists of eggs scrambled with the following:

chopped leftover bacon
havarti deli cheese
sweet onion I found in the pantry
poke salad and dandelions from the garden
two sugar snap peas, the first in the garden
about two little asparagus shoots from the orchard
one German Butterball potato that overwintered in the compost heap from last year.

It's actually really good. Who am I kidding, everything is pretty good with cheese and bacon.

It's actually really good.

we had porterhouse steaks on the grill with rice-a-roni and zuchini in tomatoes
kitchen is still a mess i have stopped painting for a few days cause i have a killer sinus infection from the drywall dust and the cough syrup with codeine is not conducive to good paintng.

on the other hand i have painting class tomorrow and my canvas should be quite interesting i usually don't work in abstract but who knows.

Tonight we had spaghetti. I wanted the sauce to be a thick, rich, meatsauce, so that's what I made, and it just hit the spot perfectly. Menu:

Spaghetti with Thick Meatsauce
Green Salad w/ Choice of Dressing
Garlic Toast made with Garlic, Butter, Parmesan and Parsley (I also make an olive oil version.)
Lemonade
Wild Strawberry-Vanilla Ice Cream with Homemade Crispy Sugar Cookies. (We picked 121 strawberries over the past 2 days. I actually just had a couple of cookies for dessert, but everyone else said that the ice cream was super strawberry flavored and tasty.)

Thank you for the recipe, NinjaPoodles!

What an excellent idea for the dough, Backyard Buddies! I'll bet it was good!

Congratulations to your dh on his weight loss, Chknrs! I'm sure you help a lot, by keeping and making good foods, too!

Scrambled Egg, I'll eat most anything if the word 'teriyaki' is attached!

That's a lot of work, Parsonswife! You must be really tired....but satisfied; good work!

HappyHen, may I ask what's in your, not-your-average-Caesar-salad?

Hi, Amystours!

I wondered where you'd been! That's a horrible shame to have all that food thaw like that. However, it's the once-in-a-blue-moon time we can just have a feast, or feasts, without counting the cost or planning it. Glad to see you back!

I hope everyone's feeling okay there, Cknmom. You sound so tired.

Hi, Rosalind! You really pulled off a meal out of nothing! Sounds good!

I'm sorry about your sinus infection, Purr. My dh never liked Rice a Roni, but it was one of my pre-packaged food loves. We don't eat it anymore, but I can appreciate anyone who does! lol! Have fun in class!
