What makes me the saddest is the fact that 11 families will never have the chance to have any closure by being able to hold funerals for their loved ones...
This is a tragedy in MANY ways-it is going to devastate the seafood industry in Louisiana, Alabama and Florida, the wildlife and their habitat that will be destroyed is going to be immeasurable, many communities that depend on their beaches for tourism dollars will really be hurting from this as well.

Sorry to those I offended. I am human...tend to think of self first. It didn't cross my mind in the wee hours of the morning that people lost their lives. I'm not really THAT insensitive, just wasn't thinking about it. Sorry

We need to move forward as a society to green, renewable energy. This is getting crazy. How many lives must be lost, environments ruined for us to end our dependency on fossil fuels?

The impact of this is going to be huge. It will impact all of us. It's not only going to affect over the road drviers...but all drivers...all delivery/shipping companies, the sea food industry and tourism to only name a few. The source of the spill is not yet capped. High and rough seas are making the situation even more difficult. The spill has tripled in size over the last day alone. Right now I think it covers over 4000 miles. We should all be concerned and do whatever we can to help in anyway we can.

This is going to impact political, environmental and economic issues/discussions for weeks, if not, months/years to come.

It is a very bad situation with the oil spill, and the price of gasoline going up this week, and all the stuff that goes along with an oil spill. But this was a very tragic accident that cost 11 men their lives and I think instead of complaining about a few more cents at the gas pump more people should be praying for the families that lost their loved ones in this tragic accident. I'm sorry if this comes across as kind of short but my brother-in-law worked on that oil rig and he was scheduled to go back to work the very next day after the explosion so you can all imagine just how close to home this is to our family at this time, and you never know some of the men who lost their lives in this tragedy could have family members on this group and I am sure you can imagine how they would feel if they saw people complaining more about the cost of gas and making jokes about sopping it up with paper towels. Stepping off my soap box now and hope I didn't offend anyone.

Oh and volunteering to help with the animals. Great idea
