Hey southerners! Anyone else want to go wash oily birds?

Where are my posts going? I typed out a reply and hit send and it was POOF gone!

Anyway, paraphrase of what I just had:

Well said!
This is not about politics. It is about families who have lost loved ones, and it is about an ecosystem that is going to be destroyed. Oiled birds and other wildlife will be dying while the world sits around and argues.

I got an email from the call center saying they've got my info in the system. Waiting to hear more. Will let you guys know when I find out!

CountryMom, you are my hero. Your posts are so well put, I have nothing else to say other than wishing you and your family great blessings and expressing my heartfelt gratitude....

They're mostly junior aged kids so we don't know what, if anything, they'll be allowed to do, but my daugther's 4-H club is looking for volunteer opportunities to help with the spill if the oil makes it as far as our part of the Florida coast. If anything comes of this I'll post about it.

.....Alan.

If there is not something a person can volunteer for considering the geography of the area...including lack of hotels and driving there. Maybe someone could think about what can be done for the families of the ones who were lost. It is people like them that have worked so our nation can have fuel to keep us all running. A memorial sight isn't something that can be easily set up considering the Gulf. Many of those lost were family men also...one has a wife due any day now for their first child. Talk about heart wrenching.

It would be something good for a kid to get involved with.

Not a hero, just a wife and mother who lives with this daily because my husband works in the field. Not everyone understands it until you are there. And just hoping to put the human side to this to help people understand.
