Hi,
So I recently brought the HHD 12 egg incubator and its been running for 2 days now ready for some button quail eggs to arrive but the temperature on the actual incubator is reading different from the thermometer I have inside of the incubator. For example the incubator is reading just over 39°c and the thermometer inside is reading just over 36°c. I am trying to get it to 37.5 but do I listen to the incubator temp or the thermometer inside???
Sorry for the long post just confused!!

Check the accuracy of your thermometer. There are some articles here in BYC for checking accuracy and calibrating depending on the type of thermometer.
Also not knowing what incubator you ( well i looked it up , but never used this type)have. The placement of the temperature gauge in your incubator can play a role in themometer difference. If the incubator has a fan that can play a role in temp difference also between 2 temp gauges also.
First foremost check your thermometer for accuracy. You need to calibrate it.
There is a search function upper right hand corner.

Thank you so muxh for replying and the effort you have put into looking things up and sending links :)
I forgot to mention in my post I have a digital supposed to be high accuracy thermometer/humidity reader I have had a quick search but not sure how you calibrate them - I will have a better look tomorrow see if I can find anything but this is the one I am using not sure if it is truly very accurate but I will have a play around tomorrow

Did you get it going? I have an hhd 56 and troubleshooting now because my hatch rates have been awful. However it seemed to hold temp and humidity well WITH the styrofoam in place. If I take it out, the temp quickly falls 5 Degrees. Thankfully I read on a review to leave it in the Styrofoam and come soon. If you’ve already thrown it away you may consider watching for some other layer of insulated to add while still allowing for ventilation. I suspect my turner isn’t working correctly.

Yes so I had the Styrofoam on the entire time but it was still struggling to hold temp so I added a towel around the back part of the incubator leaving the front uncovered and I had 9/11 hatching and thats with shipped eggs so I was pretty pleased considering I had a bit of a rough start, I hope you get it sorted, I think you can check the Turner by holding down the led button!

Has anyone had problems with the rotation? My incubator is set to rotate every 2 hours but it just keeps rotating it doesn’t stop after 10 seconds.
