Thank you everyone! I’m waiting on my next set of chickens to hatch now so I can have more diversity than just a single rooster. (Inbreeding depression is unwanted here). Its made up of 25 eggs and I’m hoping for at least 3 males

I’m in love with the short, stocky chickens like the Buff Orpington so I’m hoping my cross can keep the squat stature <3 and I want it to be an Easter egger as well.

If you want an EE with BO parentage, you would need either a BO rooster for your Ameraucana and Araucana, or a roo with a blue egg gene... Crested Cream Legbars are very nice! The CCL would make nice EEs with any other breed as well.

Has anyone worked with any of these crosses previously, and do you have tips on what threads I could look at to speak to other aspiring breeders and compare experiences with cross breeding?

Genetics and breeding is a subject that fascinates me, but unfortunately I don't have personal experience yet. As far as I know, cross breeding will only yield barnyard mixes. While some may be very interesting and beautiful, they will never breed true. And creating an entirely new breed would take years and generations of line breeding to achieve your goal, once you narrow down what your goals are.
