Hi, I'm Brian, from Oak Harbor, WA, on Whidbey Island. Don't have chickens yet, but my wife said OK, so it's up to the landlord next.
Complete noobie when it comes to farming just about anything but tomatoes & strawberries, having grown up pretty much a city boy in the SF east bay suburbs. Getting dizzy from reading stuff on here... just made it to page 20 of one of the big DLM threads, and coop designs, and breeds, and... whew!!!
Going to be building a "portable" chicken house - wheeled, enclosed house on one end, chicken wire on the other. Can't free range them yet, would take a lot more work on the yard to keep them enclosed than I have time or money for at the moment. Will be looking for advice on that subject elsewhere on the board...
Anywho, better get back to reading... the weekend's coming up fast.
