*Hiccup Hiccup* What exactly causes these annoying things???!!!!

I have always gotten hiccups. All my life. Seems lately I get them a lot when I am hungry, which in my case is all the time. LOL So if I suck on a piece of hard candy, that will usually get them to stop quick. I think stress can make you hiccup as well. :)

Huh, that seems to be the case with me too! I'm hungry a lot too. XD I'll try that!

'Booze' is alcohol.
OH!! I do NOT drink-- I'm WAY too young for that...

They (whomever ) say you get hicups from swallowing too much air. I don't know. But once when I was in the hospital I heard a nurse say if you swallowed a teaspoon of sugar dry, it would cure them.

It has worked for me but, then I don't get them often to begin with.

I always thought it was a tracheal or esophageal spasm as a result from "gulping" either food, air or drink--but I'm not sure. I get them a lot and if I get them once during a day, I will be more prone to getting them later throughout the day as well.

DrumstickDiva--the sugar thing has worked for me as well!

Yea, I've heard of the air thing, and food, and drink. XD I dunno. I get them a lot, then I don't get them a lot for awhile, then I got them a lot....
