Hickenlooper ate a cigarette!

As I was walking out of their run, I pulled out a cigarette and one of my girls pulled it out of my hand. Before I could catch them, they had eaten the cigarette and one ate the whole filter. Will this harm them? Is there anything I can do?

Edited: I don't know how auto correct gets "Hickenlooper" out of chicken.
Oh dear - I don't know - hope she is just fine!!! I do know that almost happen in my flock I had two that were constantly after a butt if I put it anywhere but in my pocket. Almost had a heart attack chasing them down and grabbing the butt from the beak!

ETA : I did not smoke in my coop - only when sitting outside to supervise free ranging:oops:.

I haven't read anything bad about a chicken eating a cig before on this site...
I have seen a few die from eating earrings though..
I wouldn't worry.

Id be more worried about a filter from a cigarette that had been smoked. Thats got a high concentration of nasties that have been transformed by smoke and fire....

deb

I was worried about that, the cigarette had actually been half smoked. Half the tobacco, but all the nasties in the filter.

Just went and sat with them for a few, they seem normal at the moment. I'm not even sure who did what, it happened so quickly. No more cigarettes any where near the girls, that's for sure.
