Do both males and females hiss when they think they are challenged?

What breed do you have. In my experience both male and female muscovies will hiss, but only mallard derived hens do so, and then only when they are setting.

This hissing question involves my Pekin. We think she is a she - and I had read somewhere about males only hissing. But, this morning she hissed at my dog. She is about 6 weeks old or so.

I have had both sexes hiss hens when Broody hiss up a storm. The drake would hiss if I got too close to his hens
