I have a question on this. If someone tested positive with Histoplasmosis and is recovered, is it one of those diseases that you still have in you and will test positive for forever? Or, once you are better, you no longer test positive for it? I'm asking because so many times over the last 5 years or so I have had many of the symptoms (including coughing up blood) and my doctors have never figured out what's wrong with me. I go through periods where I am very sick and gradually over weeks I'll get better. I've been tested for many things - even for something called FMF (familial mediterranean fever) which was a long shot - based on family race. I did ok on lung function tests but did have a partially collapsed lung on one chest xray. Follow up xrays were ok. And the weirdest symptom is having a fever for weeks at a time with no other symptoms except fatigue. So maybe Histoplasmosis could be the problem? It's not any longer of a shot than FMF. Thanks for your info and help.

I have had a "head cold" since before october and even had a full body rash, the doc said it was probably a food allergy, but looking back..it was right after I gave to coop a good cleaning..My face mask didnt fit so I used a bandana..I still smelled the dust, so I knew something was probably getting thru..

I will let him know this might be a possibility

In order to filter these spores you must wear a mask that states N95. I bought them online. I bought 3M brand 8211 style. These are what my doctor recommended.

Since we are talking about masks and respirators..
Anyone know of a respirator that will filter ozone?
Dallas/fort worth gets some pretty bad "ozone days"
When it drifts south I tend to try to stay inside on those days because I do feel the effects..

OK guys you just can't go out and buy an N95 and wear it and think you are protected. You have to be FIT TESTED BEFORE you can wear the masks. A lot of people, especially with certain types of faces or beards can not wear these masks, they will leak. Also you need to know what size and style to wear. Some masks fit some people better than others. Also people with lung disease should NOT wear these masks. They will compromise your breathing. You are not going to be certified to wear the mask if you have COPD or asthma. In those cases you need a positive pressure mask. So you can breath. These blow air but are much more expensive.

Fit testing involves filling out a question form and breathing a special type of sweet smoke to see if you can taste it with the mask on. That means the mask is not working. I have to be fit tested every year. I hate N95 masks they make work difficult since you can not breath. I prefer a face shield and dust mask, but that is just me, such a risk taker.

I just left the eye doctor today with a histoplasmosis diagnosis. I have a big blurred sopt in my right eye from it. It could get worse (blindness) or not it can be treated if the risks dont out way it.
