Hi Gene Wilder in "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"! Or Depp in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"!
Which do you think is better? To me they are hardly comparable.
I like Gene Wider version better, but I'm OLD and that's what I grew up with.
Been looking for a copy of the movie for years and heard a tidbit of a song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0sgwz-f-u4
and
couldn't rest til I found a copy.
"Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination. Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination
Take a look and you'll see into your imagination.

We'll begin with a spin traveling in the world of my creation
What we'll see will defy explanation.

If you want to view paradise, simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it. Want to change the world? There's nothing to it.

There is no life I know to compare with pure imagination
Living there you'll be free if you truly wish to be.

If you want to view paradise
Simply look around and view it
Anything you want to, do it
Wanta change the world?
There's nothing
To it

There is no
Life I know
To compare with
Pure imagination
Living there
You'll be free
If you truly
Wish to be"
Makes me so happy to find a copy of Gene Wilder and Willy Wonka for my collection, I could just shout (but that wouldn't be appropriate) --- yaaay.

Well here I am. You are gonna get the techincal version from me. I LOVED Gene Wilder and that film. However, it was not at all true to the book or the darkness of Roald Dahl's writing.

The Depp version was much more true to the book that the Gene Wilder one. Roald Dahl had a dark soul to say the least. Remember James and the Giant Peach? I need say no more.

Both have their creepy moments... like that in the 2nd they try and explain the why being he wonka... but the songs were way better in the original... also liked that they came up with where the oompas came from... even if it did me gagging while watching the caterpillar bit. We just watched the 2nd last night oddly enough, but it's been years since I saw the original. Think I'll reserve judgment until I can watch the original again.
