I liked the first one because it was much more musical. I LOVE musicals. The second one gave me a Michael Jackson "Creeper" feeling...apparently I wasn't the only one that felt that. When he went "Daddy" close to the beginning of the movie, I accidentally said "Michael Jackson" in a drawn out way. I had meant to say it rather quietly to the DBF, but everyone in the theater laughed.

Gene Wilder reminded me as a kid of the creepy guy down the street who's yard I wasn't to play in. Guy still fires off the "creepy pediphile" neurons (note I have no reasoning beyond the guy strikes me as creepy, he could be perfectly nice, but even as a kid, I was put off by the creepy guy wanting to take kids to his candy playland....)

oh my this is a hard question for me, when people ask what my all time favorite movie is I always reply with Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory BUT I LOVE LOVE LOVE Charlie and the Chocolate factory also! lol

With the original I have always been compared to the blueberry girl (ok not the shape but the looks and hairstyle) from when I was a child. lol (Now the shape might apply too) lol

Who do you blame when your kid is a brat? the mother and the fathhhhher! lol Veruca, Who's ever heard of a shnozberry? lol I always thought the lickable wallpaper was neat until I grew up to be germ phobic lol

Neither are completely true to the book (it's been AGES since I read them), but the 2nd has a much better Great Glass Elevator.
