I can't find anything on bill rot. What is it? What causes it @chickens really? Could you educate those of us that do not know what your talking about? Is it an actual condition or just a generalization?

It's an actual condition, can happen. All hooves or Bills are like our own fingernails so definitely certain bacteria grow which causes a rot if in the right conditions.

Well, yeah, that's how rot generally works. Requiring bacteria or fungi to break down organic material. That's all athletes foot is. I can't actually find anything from a creditable source about "bill rot" however. Can you provide a link that is actually educational rather than a generalization of how rot works?

Ehh. You're probably right. The trained professionals would probably know best.

Not everyone can afford a vet or has access to an Avian vet. That’s why BYC is such an important place. Give the members what we can and let them decide what they can do.

Could your duck have stuck her bill through fencing or gotten it caught any where else. They are notorious for this sort of stuff.
