Hi folks currently mixing my own chicken food which consists of 1 part 32%balancer 1 part hammer milled field peas 1part hammer milled wheat half part crushed maize and half part Lucerne(alfalfa)chaff mixed up with a little mollasis grit available add lib and free ranging most days hand full of whole wheat thrown out to scratch chickens seem to like it but I feel as if they are still lacking in something what's everybody else feeding also looking for a fattening diet for my meat birds thanks in advance

"Feeding Pasture—Raised Poultry" by Jeff Mattocks is my primary reference book. I'm not familiar with "32% balancer" I'm guessing it's a mix of vitamin pack and high protein feeds. Here's what my grower looks like.
CORN 7.0% (GRD) 815
SOYBEANS ROASTED 550
BARLEY 9% (GRD) 200
LINSEED ML. (O.P.)34/7 200
ALFALFA ML 17% 100
POULTRY NB DL 60
FISH ML (MENHADEN) 50
LIMESTONE 37% Ca 25
Formula Totals: 2,000

For your meat birds, do you want fat or muscle?
For muscle, you need protein. For fat, higher energy feed will put fat on them.

I imagine they are still lacking something. Your current mix is about 15-16% protein. What are you shooting for? Please explain what are the ingredients of the 32% balancer. What is the calcium to phosphorus ratio?

Here's what I use for meat birds from start to finish. I only give them what they can consume in 45 minutes and feed morning and evening along with giving them fresh grass every day. I adjust their feed amount once per week as they grow and toward the end, I move morning and afternoon.
