What about this...does it look normal?View attachment 1416125

The darkness here.
can you repost the original so I know what I'm looking at? :) It looks like the side of a breast near the wing joint.

keep in mind he was sitting on ice for 24 hours. it looks to me like some of the color from the blood has leached out into the slimy clear stuff. (real technical there ;) ) I can't remember what it's called.

edit: actually yeah is this from the same bird? I don't see that in any of the other pics.

It's the underside of the gizzard

Hey there. I think I see adhesions from the air sacs (lungs) to the body wall and other organs. The lungs should be bubblegum pink and just sitting there cleanly. The lungs in your pictures are dark red and look wet. In your chest pic, there are lots of strands from the surfaces of the lungs to the sides of the chest which should not be there. With the purple comb and sudden death, I am thinking a severe peracute pneumonia. I have done hundreds of chicken necropsies (I am a veterinary pathologist). Looking at the lungs microscopically would confirm that interpretation. It's possible that the water deprivation was the straw that pushed him over the edge :( Poor little guy.

Which picture is that?
3rd one under intestines and gizzard.
It is probably nothing.
I can't zoom in on the photos on my computer so I am doing so on my phone.
Remember I have no clue what I am looking at.

I did just google necropsy photos of both hens and roosters and from what I can tell there isn't a thing wrong with your guy.
There are some nasty fatty dead chickens out there.
:sick

Can you screen shot the lungs for me please?

yeah, it just looks like discoloration from him sitting for a day. could be from the intestines.

on a side note: YAY a vet-pathologist! they'll know more what they're talking about than I will. :p all my knowledge is internet based. I've only done a few necropsies on my own. The ones I did the causes of death were super obvious.
