I have been looking to buy a horse for a while now, and we found out some of our friends sell horses. He has this one gelding he is willing to sell to me for around $650 or trade. The gelding is beautiful, and he is the perfect height for me. All of their horses are very gentle and his sire is a champion barrel racer who is 25 and in perfect condition. The only problem with the gelding is that he said that when he was a colt he was playing with another colt and got his hoof stuck in a gate and hurt himself. He said he sees him limping sometimes. I don't plan on entering any competitions, so this gelding would just be for pleasure riding. Do you guys think his hoof would become a problem in the future and that I should just keep looking at different horses? Or are there things I could do to strengthen his leg? Thank you so much!

I would pass! It isn't worth it. The horse obviously has a really bad leg injury and you would probably have to pay a lot of money on medications to get it better, and even then it might not work. How old is the horse? Have you looked on craigslist?
I would have a vet come and look at it too!

If the gelding has a chronic limp it would probably get worse with age. Has a veterinarian looked at this horse. If so, what does he/she say about the geldings future? If I were you I'd want to talk with the vet and see what he says. My Guess is that he would tell you to keep looking.
Yeah, it probably would get worse with age. That just reminded me of Little House on the Prairie.

What is the most money that you are willing to pay for a horse?
