Thanks for the good belly laugh! I can just imagine hearing the fire truck coming with all their bells and whistles after the neighbors saw my chickens exploding in the back yard. I'd have to explain that I was only having a "warming fire".

Mine only have gas problems when I feed them too much cabbage.

Perhaps if you signed an agreement not to feed them cabbage, they would reduce your payments.

FWIW, a garbage can full of hay did spontaneously combust at teh house behind mine a few years ago. Thankfully it was in the middle of a sand-floored arena, with nothing within flames reach that could burn.
