Well, around here if you try what letter?, they issue a warrant. I'd rather not go that route. Maybe I'll luck out and there won't be any jury trials needed that week or is it month. Take it as it comes.
It is freezing and those crazy girls are still laying. I had some for breakfast and they have little bullseyes in them. Coarse they are on again off again so doesn't bod well for my hatch. But hey, I may get some to start the year off.
Ok now we are at 12 -11= 1 available for mailing in the Spring.
Add PA to state list, guess I should go back and find that and update it. So you know.

I'm too easy to find each day to try what letter where I live now. They'd just deliver a second one registered mail or something...
Would cause me problems at work to be arrested for something like that. Getting arrested for civil disobedience would be one thing. Getting arrested for skipping jury duty. Yeeeeeowch. I'd probably get fired.
As a rank Newbie to quail I am really looking forward to the reading material!
Since the cages I've got are pretty tall, the rabbits can have them and I'll just build some for the quail. Any reason besides "ease of cleaning" to not use solid bottomed cages? They are a personal preference of mine, I'd rather scrape out bedding every day then scrub wire once a month.
You guys are terrible and trying to get me in trouble. I find enough of that on my own.
Riverotter, you must like working. Trust me they will be enough work without extra. They are going to keep you busy just trying to figure out what to do with all the eggs. You do realize you are going to end up with several cages to keep clean. Buy a plastic Scraper and a Wire brush, oh I have a small house plant shovel, I find that comes in handy, daily. I like that little shovel so much, DH made me a few more, good thing cause I broke the original, years ago.
I had one little section of solid floor, over wire in the grow out pen, thank goodness. I ripped that sucker off within a week, I think, what a mess. Got the younger ones a rubber mat with 1/4" holes (Home Depot) to cover most of the cage until they got big enough to keep their toes inside and they got used to the wire. Then out it comes, cause hosing it down everyday (make 2) is a pain, too. The adults are fine on the 1/2" wire, actually once they are about 3 weeks they need the 1/2" wire, not smaller and they are good to go by then.
I have more to do than play with quail poo everyday. At least everyother day with the droppings pans is enough. Some people just let it drop, cover with lyme, hay shavings whatever, but I can't go that way. Rain makes it to stinky. I'd rather empty my pans in the compost area and cover with hay, than shovel later. I usually have only around 100 quail around here and thats enough work.
I don't know how these people keep up with 100's of birds. I couldn't do it, thats not for me.

I use a wide plastic paint scraper (or is it for smoothing putty? Dunno...) for cleaning cage trays. Actually, I have three that came as a set. Works great!
I've got to remember to put a pair of reusable rubber gloves down by the cages, too. There have been times I wanted them & didn't have them handy.
My droppings go into big black trash cans or whatever is handy for the winter. Come spring they'll get dug into the next new garden bed, or get buried in the compost pile to make some lovely garden additions.
IN THE RARE CASE THEY DO GET WISE AND SEND ACTUAL SUMMONS...
"They'd probably never seat me on a jury, anyway. "
THIS CAN BE ENSURED BY REMEMBERING TO USE THESE 2 KEY PHRASES....
1. I HATE 'EM ALL!
2. HANG 'EM!
THE USUAL RESPONSE IS "WELL THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE WE WONT BE NEEDING YOUR SERVICES THIS TIME. YOU ARE EXCUSED AND HAVE A NICE DAY"

ROFL Yes, those would work. However, with my background, they'd get me for contempt because there is too much public record showing my true feelings.
Ahem. I'd have to do my nice little civic duty. Unless, of course, it was a case of extremely graphic gory stuff in which case I'd just deal with the contempt charges.
