I don't see where this thread started out acrimoniously at all, have you read all 32 pages of it ? This in my mind was the beginning of a fine line of large Jumbo Brown quail that some of us (including myself) still possess today. There happens to be quite a few folks around that are working with not only this line of birds but others as well to increase the size of the bird as well as egg size. And you know what, we like doing it & yes it is really worth it !Not wanting to stir the pot so to speak, but this thread started out fairly acrimoniously.
Why in the world would you want to create a quail with bantam chicken size? Why not just go with a bantam chicken?
The taste and cost of such a breed would quickly run into genetic issues in my opinion that would make the whole exercise a giant frustration. Jersey Giants were such an experiment in the chicken world and it was ok until the return on investment made the whole thing economically non-viable. I am not saying that you shouldn't try, just that the end goal is not really worth it.
