How did you come up with your screen name?

I probably don't even need to explain Mine.

Im Just Completely Obsessed With That adorable Animal That Goes Quack, Im the only one in my family mind you, but still!

In My Room, I have many many MANY duck ornaments, and plush toys ive collected over the years!
So Good I have Such A sweet Husband Who doesn't mind when even in his underwear draw, finds a lost duck ornament.
Hehe!

From the movie Roots, there was a slave who took care of the chickens/fighting roosters. When signing up, it was the first name that came to my mind. Although I do not like the cockfighting which is actually what he did in the movie.

What an excellent thread!!! I've had such a hard time choosing screen names and usually the ones I pick are related to the projects I'm working on at the time. For example, my first "real" website was a professor review site, www.reviewum.com so I used reviewum when I was at BYC. Then I made www.nifty-stuff.com where I first started to post my hobbies including chickens, so I started using nifty-stuff as my screen name.

Well, fast forward to the new BYC forum and I had to come up with a new name. As many know there was a push for me to be the "ChickenMaster" but I just couldn't do it : https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=15

I
decided to keep old and new and go with Nifty-Chicken... I'm so not creative!

Oh, and BTW, before I really knew Cindi I always thought her name was "ChickenChair" but interpreted "chair" to mean head, as in chairperson since she was the admin of the forum.

I remember my first few phone conversations with her I referred to her as chickenchair and she had to keep correcting me "CHICKchair".

It is part of my ebay user name. Now I need to change it, since i have my baby chicks now. I wonder if that means I will loose all my posts? Steph

08/07 update

Changed my name finally to w8tn4fresheggs. The girls are just about ready to start laying.

Love reading everyones posts.

My name is not that exciting- The first part is from my name-Kristin- the second part is from my neighbor Rose. I'm stepmom to her 4 hens and her 7 week old chicks (the chicks are at my place with my 10).
I added her name to mine so we could post if we needed to and I did'nt think she wanted to register.
Well, she did, and now she's ChickFlick which is strange since she hates chick flick's!!!

I thought "chickchair" was because of chairpersonage, too...

I used to be a "Mudhen"...that was the name of a new-defunct ceramics group in Arlington, TX.

My uncle used to call me by my screenname when I was a kid. I used it first when I signed up for a bee forum, and just kept it for the chicken forums.

But my first name is really spelled with an "i", not a "y".

Great thread! Funny, I also thought Chickchair was the name because she headed up BYC.

My kids came up with the name Backyard Buddies and after a year with chickens, it's still true. There's nothing like seeing an 11 and 9 year old sharing a swing with a couple of chickens.

I was initially uncertain about using the name since it was so close to the website name, but the kids really wanted it and were chanting "Backyard Buddies, Backyard Buddies" as I was registering! ha ha

Urbanhomesteader - I'm there with ya! I squeak whatever veggies and chickens I can on my small lot but I dream all the time of living where I can spread out and do some real farming. And, just yesterday I was reading online about how to make cheese. I'd really like to learn how to do that sometime. Although I live in the city, I'm working with a group of friends to create a semi co-op to share our excess since we cannot grow enough to feed our families. Until I can have my farm, that's going to have to carry me through.

My daughter (four at the time) came up with my name by accident. We just received our baby chicks last Easter and she was watching them and had a comment... "Mom, there sure is a lot of chickie pooh in there... and they are stepping in it!" I laughed so hard. She comes up with some funny words and phrases! So... I guess I am nothing more than ckicken poop! Hey... it is good for the garden!
