how do i convince my parennts to get me a chicken

Most States have a youth fair where youngsters show their animals, be it Steer, Lamb, Hog, Chickens, Rabbits etc.

My daughters show chickens, but we live in an Ag area so livestock is allowed.

However, several kids in my daughters' 4-H group live in areas where livestock is prohibited.

They were able to be allowed their chickens, and in one instance even a hog!- Because they will be showing in the Southeastern Youth Fair.

A couple chose not to house roosters, even though the could, I guess as not to upset the neighbors too much.

Thanks, the only place i would be able to get feed and stuff would be petsmart.... i would have to get my eggs on ebay or something because i dont know anyone in Reading that has chickens.

I really doubt that petsmart would have laying pellets and the other neccisary things to raise chickens. And in order for you to hatch eggs you would need an incubator. If you are to get chickens I would find someone nearby and get chicks or full grown hens from them.

I guess i could get the incubator and eggs online but i dont know where i will get the other stuff at. I will ahev to move somewhere where people keep chickens.

Is there a Tractor Supply in your town? You can also check for feed stores on the outskirts of town where people get their horse feed etc.- they also sell chicken food.

As far as buying chickens, you can look on your local Craigslist, or post on here and we'll be glad to help you get started

It would probablly be better for you to start out with chicks or adults than trying to hatch chicks.

You can order day old chicks at many hatcheries around the country as well.
