How do I convince my parents to let me get more quail?

hello, welcome to BYC . I would like to say to you. Part of being a good pet owner is doing what is best for your animals. This is what I would do. I would call a meeting with Both parents and say to them. This is a flock animal and my friend. I enjoy its company very much and would like to one day study the breeds and advance my education on these and other birds. Make a reasonable argument on the job prospects . Write a thesis on quails and present it at this meeting .One copy for each parent. Tell them you wish to learn from this bird but you care enough for it to let it go if necessary. Explain that they are short lived and this isnt forever, Its just you asking for a chance to learn. Make sure you do your homework on the bird first and come prepared to answer questions.

@Wishing4Wings @campingshaws How do you tag Benny please ?

May I ask how old you are, and where you got the quail originally?

The first thing I would try is making a diaper for your quail if possible. That should prevent any kind of mess. Secondly, buy your quail stuffed animals. Lots and lots of them. If quail are anything like chickens, they will treat these like flock mates. My chick was isolated as she and her flock mate contracted a respiratory illness. Sadly, her flockmate didn't make it. She was very lonely, and the vet recommend the stuffed animals as pairing her with another bird will cause the other bird to become ill, and doing this with chicks is vet irresponsible. She took to the stuffies immediately...she loves her stuffed elephant the most, and she preens it and snuggles with it all night. She's aware it's not alive but takes comfort in its company the same way a child would.

Getting stuffed animals, combined with near constant human company, meant that ALL signs of loneliness vanished for my chicken. This may solve your problem.

If you are underage, getting another quail against the will of you mother is irresponsible, and will cause more harm to your quail than good. You may simply be in the situation where there is no perfect solution. Be careful in the future of acquiring pets when they are prohibited in your household.

That being said, sitting down calmly with your mother and asking her to outline her reasons why she doesn't want another quail, then taking time to calmly explain that these problems will not occur, or asking her what you can do to help alleviate her concerns, is a good plan.
