How do I rescue chickens from slaughterhouses and factories?

I always forget the manure part is important to some people. That's something every bird can do

And don't forget the scratching, and certain breeds scratch up carbon based bedding type of materials into dust rapidly, others are not so great at it. Leghorns or leghorn based hybrids used in Battery Cages are actually some of the best compost turning birds available. Great foragers too, they can survive finding their own food if their range is big enough. I do believe they have value as spent hens. I am not the type to just rescue a bird just to make myself feel better, The bird has to bring value and I can see the value in spent leghorns.

I don't like how chickens are raised, which is why I raise my own. The first batch of organic heritage cost $7 lb. I since have found a local farmer with a mill and added CX in the bloodline. It's now about 5 lb. That's just feed cost, no labor no fencing ect. I process since it's just for me. Eggs are 4dz for feed costs.

Poster can do what ever floats the boat but it's really a unattainable goal. Where do you think some of the meat by products in commercial feed (including chicken feed) come from....All my animals that I feed commercial food to (pond fish, cat food, dog food, chicken food) contains at least some sort of chicken by product in it.

Most of the major brands of chicken feed are vegetarian now (in fact, Purina just recently came out with a separate non vegetarian one) and my fish food doesn’t have any chicken in it either.

Priorities people

Some people that like to pad themselves on the back for "rescuing" a few spent hens, have the luxury of buying organic eggs, organic products never even thought about sponsoring a third world country child. 3 million children die of hunger every year.

This sounds a bit like you are throwing shade on the people who have rescued animals & are trying to feed their kids heathy food & accusing them of not doing enough.

The problems this world faces are vast & epic. Please don’t throw stones at people for only doing what they can. At least they’ve done something, unlike others who consume & consume & give nothing back.

I'm the sort of person that spends hours by the chicken waterers rescuing flies that are drowning. I'm sure there are tons of flies that die every day. Won't stop me doing it.

I'm sure there are many that want to rehome chickens and help children, in their home country and abroad some people want to help all living creatures as much as they can and don't want to be boastful.
Many of my friends have supported these charities and equally as many have been scammed

Unfortunately a lot of these children don’t actually see any of this money. And all of the clothes we donate usually end up in their landfills instead of ours. No one really asks these communities what they actually need. I’m all for helping those in need whenever and however I can but I’d rather help in ways the receiver can appreciate rather than what makes me feel good about myself. I do research before I donate to anything overseas and only give my clothes to our Free Clothing Center and the Salvation Army. I’ve stopped giving to Goodwill due to the massive amount of money their CEO makes, same with United Way.
We can go on and on with this and get nowhere except angry at each other.

There was a certain member of a royal family that raised money for children then landed up getting the charity into debt living it it up partying in lavish hotels. The problem is we just don't know anymore

Personally I find agressive advertising has a reverse effect.

The best ever charity I've ever seen was providing animals water supplies and seeds.

Some staff member decided to remove the picture about sponsoring a child(I just got it from google without a second thought) because it was some form of advertisement. It was not meant as such, quite frankly that is really absurd. I am done with this site.
