How do I tame my killer rooster??

Chickassan- I totally agree with your analogy! Which is why I kept the current “live stock” rooster, I never meant to keep 😂 . They are either wired or not. Some breeds are more wired to be aggressive and others are not. I still would always be watchful with a rooster and young children. I wonder how the OP is doing. Lots of great advice.

Fully in the same boat in fact I start out never intending to keep any of the boys that are hatched here they're all wait and see if they are good fits for how things are done around here.
I've gotten amazingly good at it, since I don't waiver in how anyone gets raised it lets the personality come to the front earlier.
I however don't make any decisions before puberty, those hormones are killers.

I tamed my hen by holding her almost upside down on he back and rubbed her stomach for about 3 min. It worked great she never attacked me again, but that wasn't true for any guests I had over. When you tame a chicken (rooster or Hen) your telling that you are boss, but everyone else is not.

I’ve got one barred rock rooster in flock of 18, I mean 17 as the other rooster was too aggressive. Have 11 new Bielefelder chicks with 3 cockerels. Will wait to see which cockerels are most desirable before culling the others. Also added a “gifted” roo to the 25 meat birds area as he showed aggression toward my granddaughter. (That would normally end immediately in the soup pot but I plan on processing some meaties today, so he got a 3 day reprieve). It’s much easier to replace a rooster than to ease any guilt of letting it live and then have it hurt someone, especially my granddaughter.
