How do i use ivermectin on my chickens? (Mites) or what is most powerful mite killer

I've read a while ago about injectable ivermectin given orally to poultry. I believe I have northern fowl mites.

DONT SAY PERMETHRIN! I got the most potent 13% permethrin and mixed it stronger than recommended and 4 days in a row she is covered in bugs. I'm tired of attacking my birds day after day chasing them with sprayers and dusters. Permethrin is a waste of my time and money.

Any other recommendations?
Thanks

Ivermectin should treat the birds, but if the Mites are not eradicated from their housing, they will become infested again. Have you cleaned out and treated the housing, roosting bars, nesting boxes, etc. in 7 day intervals?

Here's dosing info for Ivermectin of course it's repeated in 10 days. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/mites-lice-now-hen-growling.1242981/page-2#post-19965544
Thanks for the thread. I have sprayed permethrin in the nesting box every day just to find more mites on my eggs the next day. If I soak the mites that are there they die but the liquid has no lasting effect on the birds or area.

Are you just treating the nesting box?
It's best to so a total clean out of the whole coop (bedding and all), treat all surfaces (walls, roosting bars, nesting boxes, etc.) in 7 day intervals.

If that doesn't take care of the bugs, then you may need to use something like Elector PSP (Spinosad) to treat the housing.

Soaking everything possible. I followed the mixing directions but it was suggested I up the permethrin. Will try that because I still have some.
What is best? Have you used elector? Is it better? I'm just getting frustrated checking my arms every time I go in the house and doing all I can to no avail.

I have not used Elector PSP, but @azygous uses it, she may be able to offer suggestions.

I've never used Ivermectin. I know it's a powerful med, and must be used carefully according to strict guidelines for poultry.

I feel much more comfortable using Elector for leg mites. I mix up a solution and soak the legs and feet for ten minutes, and that's it. They're good to go, and no further treatments are usually necessary.
