You don't HAVE to eat them. If you're more comfortable with someone else doing it (and eating them), well, I'd rather do it that way.

Or if you really can't bring yourself to eat them, some folks "plant" them in the yard under a rose bush or something, as they still serve a purpose as fertilizer.

I did once find someone to take my old rooster snd do the job for me, but I don’t know how many places like that I can find now.
