So did I,But right after they put not to feed to male birds mine died, When I ask the company about it they said that you were never supposed to feed it to them, Producers Prode said the same thing,You are supposed to use All flock ... They said it is the extra calcium in it.. So now I feed any of my flock that has roosters All flock and the hen's without roosters layer feed because it is cheaper..I’ve had a rooster on layer feed. Even ducks. All fine.
Go to their website, I agree.. I had never heard such nonsense, and they acted like I was crazy for not knowing that later pellets were for Laying hens only...Layer pellets shouldn’t kill a bird.
I even sent them a picture of the old bags without a warning... They said it always was for layers only... But I never had problems till after they changed there bags... My buff orphinton Rooster weighed close to 12 lbs,He was perfectly healthy, And when my vet did an autopsy on him she said it was liver damage.. Which was probably caused by the extra calcium in the layer pellets.. But my attorney said because of the word layer,And the warning on the newer bags that said DO NOT FEED TO MALE BIRDS that there was no recourse..Go to their website, I agree.. They can. They don’t always. But it’s a possibility. It usually happens after long term feeding. However, as I said, it’s not guaranteed to kill them. But there’s a risk.Layer pellets shouldn’t kill a bird.
It really depends on the exact feedThey can. They don’t always. But it’s a possibility. It usually happens after long term feeding. However, as I said, it’s not guaranteed to kill them. But there’s a risk.
