OK, cease fire, please.

I didn't mean to "start something" and I didn't know that "How big can a Coturnix get" is such a loaded question.

It was an innocent question, honestly.

I'm happy to accept "somewhere between 6 and 16 ounces" as the answer.

Thanks.

Pop smoke at 1/2 kilometer and I'll have your MRE's heated and ready.

Watch out for tunnels and pit traps cause they released Sudanese Burrowing Quail. As you know they can dig faster than a backhoe on methamphetamines. The pit traps are the worse 'cause they line them with sharpened bones from the Cambodian White Meat Quail.

Seriously, I think Quailladyoffortmyers has some really big birds. A lot of it is how you raise them. I'd be happy if one of my birds get to 13 - 14 oz, weighed right after they eat and drink (and you tape quarters to their feet).

Dirk you do realize Cambodian white meat quail are a "boneless" variety... must be a hybrid Bird... Mille did extensive research on this breed and could never get them above 18 oz.

On a serious note,
The birds I got from Buttercup are large, Several hens weighed 12 oz at 8 weeks. Weird thing is 2 roos were close to 14 oz at the same age. Iv never had bigger quail at 8 weeks. But my experience is limited and make no claim to know all the "tricks" of raising large birds. Bottom line I am very happy with 12 oz birds at 8 weeks and Hope to get them bigger. Second generation in the bator now as a matter of fact. More of a fertility test than full on production hatch. Bill
