How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

@minnehaha sorry, didn't see the thing....still new to BYC. Yes there's a drake in the picture. now there's 19 in the nest, and still nothing.

And thank you, yes! I'm from Guam. The island with only two seasons. Rain or shine.

Your welcome, You must just be wrapping up the rainy season and getting ready for the dry season. Everything gets to dry out finally, no more soggy world!!!!

Good luck with your ducks, I'll watch for your progress over on the duck forum! I do have 3 hens, no drakes. I love my quackers! Messy ,messy aristocrats they are, they believe they are above all of us, but I love them!

Beautiful beautiful eggs!!!!! I see you write the dates on them. Are you incubating or just keeping track of their age? If they are being used as food, is there a special pen or pencil you use to write the date on them? I am considering writing the dates on eating eggs, but since I rinse my eggs which removes the bloom, I did not know what writing instrument would be best since the egg is now porous and the ink or pencil stuff can penetrate the interior of the egg.

Thanks, well I use pencil and right now, I am just tracking by date for food reasons. We also don't rinse our eggs, but give everyone a tip sheet about eggs, little tips and facts about chickens and eggs. Also gives them proper storing methods for farm fresh eggs and proper washing instructions.
We will be hatching in the spring so those eggs will be set aside. Will hopefully be incubating and letting some broodies sit on a clutch. I have some leading brooding candidates already, I negotate with them everyday when I remove them off the nests, that in the spring I will let them sit. :D Hope the get it soon!

Yes, she is brown.  She looks very much like my BB Red Game hen Bantam, but she is a bit bigger, but not by much, and her comb is different.  When i googled Dom hen, up came "golden Dom".  What is Dom short for?  What is the complete name for that breed?  And one lady who works at the feed store knew she was a hen and thought she might be a barnyard mix.  She knew the idiots out back who are feeding her think she is a rooster...LOL

I do feel real bad for the little hen, I would love to catch her and give her a proper chicken home.  I'll have to google ways to catch her.

It is possible that someone dumped her at the feed store.  I know people dump cats and dogs there.  The guys who feed her said she can fly really well, she goes way up into the tree to roost at night.

Dominique. I think they are typically the black and white barred color. I have heard of some white ones, but I think that color is not desired...at least from what I have read. They are said to be one of the first breeds in America and the breed that most likely traveled across our country with the pioneers. There may be other colors that I am not aware of. I've only had my chicks since September and I know very little about breeding.

I do the same thing...I write the date I gather them in pencil on each egg...and for the same reason. I tried sticking file folder labels on the carton, but since each carton had eggs from different days in it that got stupid real quick. I ain't the brightest crayon in the box. So I went to marking each egg. Folks who get eggs from me seem to appreciate it. I don't have a roo, so none of mine are being saved for broodies, but it's still nice to know.
