29 eggs today between the ducks and the chickens.

This spring I will gather her eggs, and all of her brother's and sisters eggs and see if I cannot continue the color. To keep the same color I may have to breed her with a blue andelusian (white egg layer but not dominant egg color) or a pale green egg gene roo.

I got an even dozen from an even dozen yesterday. they are laying pretty well for the cold, and I don't give light to extend their day. 8 heritage RIRs, 3 cuckoo marans, 1 EE.
all are about 10 months old. it is hard to stop a hen from laying in her first year once they have gotten into it.

I wish.

I was getting 9-14 a day late summer and early fall from my 16, hatched in early March. (2 Black Australorp, 4 Buff Orpington, 5 Cuckoo Marans, 5 RIR).
Now it's 4-9 from those plus 5 Australop and mixed parentage pullets, hatched in early September.

i would be surprised if the september birds were laying yet. I mean they could be but it would be early and the winter on top of that ....

These are from today, the Brown ones are normal, but the white ones and the greenish one are new, they come from our young hens and happy they are finally laying!!

So sad. This is my first year.
