I got a 96gram egg from my Light Brahma, last week a 91 gram egg, she lays hugh eggs about every two or three days. Today I got nine eggs from nine chickens, a rare event though.

I'm in beautiful San Diego California. We'er only allowed five hens here but I have nine. I'm feeding four families. I bought ten and thought I would lose more chicks, but I only lost one. I have a Hawk family nearby, but every time the hawk comes out my watch crows sound the alarm and run the Hawk off. I sure keep an eye on my Little Silkie though.

Love the stuff I learn on here.

I have a white florescent half way back for the boys during the day.
The temporary end we put on the garage is covered with hardware cloth, so it's like a 9'x9' window.
I haven't closed the "garage door" for a long time now, but we've been in the low 30s C (90's) and then it dropped to below freezing with major winds for a few days...lol.
I was concerned it would be too cold for the young chickens I had just added to the coop.



Girls are back to laying later again...lol.

Yesterday: 13 chicken eggs
I felt bad keeping the guineas in until she laid, soooo I let 'em out and couldn't find the egg again.

Today: 11 chicken eggs
1 guinea egg (no monkey business today, kept them in until she produced)

Nice egg count your ladys must really enjoy the cool weather

Too bad I can't stick some of this weather in my pocket and then let it go when I get to California in early June. That would be a nice way to deliver needed weather to the right parts of the country!
