yeah I'm trying to figure out our light situation right now too:/ they start moving around at 7ish and always on perches by 7pm. Get eggs by time we go out and they lay throughout day as well.@GC-Raptor
I was going to say that I don't have a light on for mine, but I guess that's not true because I've got a red heat lamp on for the chicks at the moment...lol.
My girls are spread out through the day a couple of eggs are already cold by 8am and I think the laying's wrapped up by 6pm.
I've only got 4 nests, perhaps it's a good thing they're spread out...lol.
If I didn't have chicks, the only light they have is a .3 watt led nightlight through the winter, just enough to see their roosts if they come down when I go in for the last visit before I shut everything up. Through the winter they are in the coop 24/7. The garage door gets lifted anywhere from 9am -12pm (as soon as I get to the farm) and it's dark here by 5pm. They don't get much light in winter unfortunately.:/ If the double layer plastic holds maybe I can leave the door open on calm/warmer nights this winter. I only had a single layer of plastic last winter.
7-8 eggs yesterday
14 eggs today (I think.) I fed a few to the girls and our dog...but there were at least 14
1 guinea egg
On a different note, maybe it's a strange question...lol.![]()
Do your eggs bounce when you throw them?
I got some really confused/surprised looks from the feed specialist & feed guy when I stopped in to ask about the best blend for "my" particular flock situation.
I can't be the only one.
