How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

13 eggs- 2nd frost so far, maybe it's time to tarp the sides of the run, 6 month old pullets still sleeping in the run's roost.

5 of 12. 36 for the week average is down to about 5 a day from 7 a day 2 weeks ago.

Puzzled sorry for your loss, I had one die suddenly about 2 months ago, it sucks not knowing why

@GC-Raptor I was going to say that I don't have a light on for mine, but I guess that's not true because I've got a red heat lamp on for the chicks at the moment...lol.

My girls are spread out through the day a couple of eggs are already cold by 8am and I think the laying's wrapped up by 6pm.
I've only got 4 nests, perhaps it's a good thing they're spread out...lol.

If I didn't have chicks, the only light they have is a .3 watt led nightlight through the winter, just enough to see their roosts if they come down when I go in for the last visit before I shut everything up. Through the winter they are in the coop 24/7. The garage door gets lifted anywhere from 9am -12pm (as soon as I get to the farm) and it's dark here by 5pm. They don't get much light in winter unfortunately.

If the double layer plastic holds maybe I can leave the door open on calm/warmer nights this winter. I only had a single layer of plastic last winter.

7-8 eggs yesterday
14 eggs today (I think.) I fed a few to the girls and our dog...but there were at least 14
1 guinea egg

On a different note, maybe it's a strange question...lol.

Do your eggs bounce when you throw them?
I got some really confused/surprised looks from the feed specialist & feed guy when I stopped in to ask about the best blend for "my" particular flock situation.
I can't be the only one.

Got 14 eggs yesterday!!!that means...
Both 24wk old buff orpingtons laid & 2 new australorp layers!! We had mystery egg at end of day-either new BA or one of the 21 wk Olds surprised us.
Which is great cause day before, collected 4 in am and all broke-our lab just LOOOOVED her morning treat. Rest of day was 5 w a new buff layer.
I could deal with 14 on regular basis, then officially be in business:D

yeah I'm trying to figure out our light situation right now too:/ they start moving around at 7ish and always on perches by 7pm. Get eggs by time we go out and they lay throughout day as well.
Eggs bounce? Ours definitely do not bounce. They drop and crack or shatter. Only one ever broke in nesting box and that is cause 21wk buff Orpington saw egg in box and pecked at it. I threw one by accident into box (swore was ceramic egg) and it just had slight crack.

GET RIDE OF THAT HEAT LAMP!!!! Change the bulb to a simple bulb. This way a straw feather or even dust won't set it up in flames!!!
I had a red heatbulb in my coop this spring and a single feather caused it to go up like kindling.
I lost 16 babies that night and my adult birds never laid right again. I'm about to process them out and let my store bought birds (hubby felt terrible about the fire and ran out the next day and got 30 day old babies) take over. They are finally at point of lay.
My point is... please get that heat lamp out of there. Birds generate their own heat after a certain age. They will huddle in cold nights and survive fine. Better.

@Wickedchicken6 I don't know if my girls eggs bounce, I haven't tossed them, but that would be nice as, I wouldn't have to be as careful with them.
How do you break open a bouncy egg?

Funny day as one of my neighbors drove in to a telephone pole with her 2013 Dodge Dart hard enough to have the engine leave the car by 50 feet and most of the day the power was out and the worst part she was only three blocks from her home and yes she lived and was released from the hospital with in eight hours and when she got home the power was still out
