How Many Eggs Did You Get Today?

I got 6 eggs from my 7 remaining girls today. Unfortunately one of my chickens died last night for some reason. She was acting totally fine yesterday evening when I put them in to roost.

I'm really sorry.

Same here; guess they gave their all yesterday and took the day after Thanksgiving to rest & recover (like we did!) One green, one brown. Martha took a break from gifting her daily blue egg.

Two so far! My Barred Rock laid her first egg! What a commotion, she sang 3 times before she laid! A whopping 37g lol.

Thanks. No, she was still a teenager, only 8 months old. I found a folded up softshell (empty) inside her, so I'm guessing it was because of the ruptured egg inside her body. Mine were bred to pop out so many eggs it's no wonder they'd have some reproductive issues. Unfortunately this one couldn't handle it.

Oh dear, sorry about that. Yes those production breeds are bred to lay till they die.

I hope my Azurs don’t become like this.
